Subject: Boycott by civil society organizations of events organized in Leogrand Hotel & Convention Center

On the 22nd June 2011, the company “Leopress” LLC, which is partly owned by SC “Moldpresa” and Turkish company “Summa Group” destroyed the architectural monument of national importance on Vlaicu Pârcălab str., 71 (the building of the first Post Office in Chisinau). “Leopress” LLC has not yet restored the monument, destroyed in June 2012, and has not announced publicly that it is willing to stop building a business center with underground parking, on the area where the monument was located. The Leogrand Hotel & Convention Center is part of the company “Summa Group”.

We, hereby, reiterate maintaining the boycott of Leogrand Hotel & Convention Center and recommend to the European Union delegation, embassies and government institutions, to show responsibility in addressing this issue, and not to organize, finance or participate in events held within institutions undermining the architectural heritage, ignoring the laws of the Republic of Moldova.
